Step outside of your comfort zone
“Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you”
Matthew 28:19-20
Local Missions
Colorful Closets
Colorful Closets is a local non-profit organization that Harvest Connexion Church supports through giving. The mission for Colorful Closets is to collect, organize, and distribute clothing for children and adolescents throughout the Amarillo, Bushland, and Canyon areas. They aim to meet the needs of those in our community while also ministering to them by spreading the love of Jesus Christ.
Operation Christmas Child
Operation Christmas Child is a project through Samaritan’s Purse that partners with churches worldwide to provide gift-filled shoeboxes to children in need around the world. We kick off Operation Christmas Child in mid-October each year. The gift-filled shoeboxes include school supplies, personal care items, toys, accessories, and more. We encourage everyone to pray over their shoebox, as it is also an avenue to share the good news of Jesus Christ with children all over the world.
Another Chance House
Harvest Connexion Church has partnered with Another Chance House since 2019. Another Chance House is a tiered program offering shelter, transitional, and long-term living options to homeless or at-risk veterans in addition to other homeless men. ACH has grown to eighteen properties today — transforming this drug-infested neighborhood into a haven of hope and self-respect for homeless men. Thousands of men have lived on their campus and rediscovered purpose, dignity, and self-sufficiency while living in the ACH community. Residents at the facility serve as staff and board members. They remain involved with their ACH family and often return to the campus to visit, share their knowledge and resources, and encourage current residents. This is a testament to the work that is being performed at ACH. Individuals within the Harvest community that have served at this location are encouraged by the redemptive power of God in the stories and experiences they encounter.
Christian Relief Fund
Harvest Connexion Church consistently partners with Christian Relief Fund. CRF is an organization that strives to empower orphans and vulnerable children to break the cycle of poverty. They are on a mission to help communities and children grow like Jesus did. Harvest Connexion primarily partners with CRF in the capacities of child sponsorships and clean water projects around the world. Church planting and the training of ministers have also become an integral focus point in the relationship between Harvest Connexion Church in Amarillo and CRF. The mission trips taken by Harvest Connexion Church were established because of the positive relationship with Christian Relief Fund. CRF continues to utilize their resources with fidelity and integrity. In 2023, 92% of CRF’s expenses went straight to their programs benefitting children and communities around the world. Individuals who have taken part in initiatives within CRF enjoy the personal element of being able to track and stay continually tied to the mission impact.
Neighbors Loving Neighbors
Neighbors Loving Neighbors allows the Harvest Connexion community to help families needing assistance with groceries and/or Christmas gifts. Each year in November, we provide cards for people to fill out if they or someone they know needs assistance in these areas. The needs are then fulfilled by the Harvest Connexion community. Groceries and Christmas gifts are picked up on the designated Sunday in December.
Feed the Homeless
Every fifth Sunday, Harvest Connexion Church provides a meal for homeless and needy families at Ellwood Park in Amarillo, Texas. The Harvest Connexion community is invited to participate by donating food and helping serve.
Global Missions
Mexico Mission
This mission trip takes place during spring break with the mission team being comprised of the RISE young adults group. In addition, it occurs every other summer with a mission team that includes Catalyst Youth and members of their families. The length of this trip is in the range of 5-7 days and includes an 8-hour travel time to the school and church of Colegio Antonio Medina Goana in Piedras Negras, Mexico. This school and church are essential to this community, and Harvest Connexion has a rich history of relational connections and support at this location. Members of Harvest Connexion in Amarillo also have children they sponsor through CRF at this school. Each respective group has a work project that is coordinated beforehand to allow for adequate preparation or resources and team members. In addition to serving at this location, the mission team will also utilize this facility for their lodging. The group will be able to meet and spend time with the staff and students at the school with a key portion of the trip being visits to the homes of the families in need from the school and church. A grocery gift and word of encouragement in Jesus’s name will be given to these families. Individuals who have attended this trip come back with a deeper sense of gratitude, a clearer understanding of the needs of God’s people, and with a mind that is willing to challenge preconceived ideas about the experiences of others outside of America.
Kenya Mission
This mission trip is taken during the summer months and spans across different locations depending on the year. The duration of the trip is two weeks, including travel time. The primary focus geographically is areas where Harvest Connexion Church has planted churches. While the trip does not allow for all church plants to be visited, Eldoret and Lodwar are consistent areas annually. This trip serves multiple operational goals with the primary being developing deeper relationships within the pastoral staffs, the schools, and the communities. In addition, it allows members of the Harvest Connexion Church in Amarillo to expand their lenses and understanding of the global church. The mission team is able to give groceries, encourage in the name of Jesus, connect with children sponsored through Christian Relief Fund (CRF), experience the vast landscape and rich culture of Kenya, and encounter God in a powerful way. The Kenyan people embrace the mission team in a profound and powerful way, embodying a spirit of joy like none other. Attendance on this trip will leave the mission team member with a better understanding of how to make an impact for Christ on a global level as well as a clearer understanding of God’s biblical calling on your life.
At Connexion, our mission is rooted in showing compassion for others just as Jesus did. He cared not only for those with physical needs but also for the spiritually lost. Following His example, we strive to meet both physical and spiritual needs, to help bring people into a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To accomplish this mission, we embrace the guiding principles of Engage, Equip, and Empower—engaging with others where they are, equipping them to grow in their faith, and empowering them to live out their calling. While we recognize the challenges our world faces, we are also reminded that the harvest is plentiful. We invite you to join in Jesus’s mission, becoming a fellow laborer as He draws people to Himself across the world.
