Welcome to the Connexion Family
Every family has their own unique history and stories. Harvest Connexion is no exception. We want to tell you about our history and some stories that capture who we are as a church because becoming a member of Harvest Connexion means you are adding to our story.
In 2009, our senior pastor, Curtis House was engaged by Harvest Christian Fellowship of Plainview to plant a campus in Amarillo. At the time, Curtis was serving a denominational church in Lubbock. Paul and D’Anne Cypert were the original planters of Harvest in Plainview, and through Paul’s leadership the church grew immensely. On September 21st, 2010, Curtis and Allison planted Harvest Christian Fellowship of Amarillo. We originally began in Jack and Darla Carthel’s home, moved shortly to a guest room at the Country Barn restaurant, and then renovated a three thousand square foot building on I-27. Within the year, we were offered our current building which consisted of chandeliers, pews, and orange carpet with the entire children’s wing being condemned. But, our God is a God of redemption, and has raised this building up from the ashes to what it is today, providing ministry to over six-hundred people per month.
Ephesians chapter four reminds us, that we as a church, should be an equipping center. Early on, Curtis would watch Kid City while Allison would lead the forty or fifty people in worship. When worship was over, she would relieve Curtis while he would then go and preach. However, as people were equipped they began to serve and the church was soon on its way. Bret and Kendra Huey would soon join the vision, and after our move to Bonham Street, would begin to put order to the madness! They volunteered to help equip people to work in Kid City, youth, and young adults. Bret would become our second hire in Amarillo, and today oversees and equips for the ministries of the church.
Today, Harvest Connexion has seven full time employees and anywhere from four to eight part-time employees. We currently have over 290 people in Life Groups and Focus Groups, and others who serve many ministries throughout the city and the world - but this is just the beginning. Our goal is to continue to grow so we can engage our culture, encourage them in a relationship with Jesus Christ, equip them, and empower them in service.
